All you need is avocados, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, lime juice, garlic and salt. Guacamole is a popular Mexican avocado salad or dip that's quite easy to make. The base of most any guacamole is mashed or chunked avocado. Guacamole is a healthy dip - a staple at every gathering and a must when we have taco nights!

Steps to make Guacamole:
  1. Halve and scoop avocados into a large bowl, discarding the pit and skin.
  2. Mash avocados to desired consistency (I like mine a little chunky but you can leave them more intact, or even stick them in a food processor until smooth).
  3. Squeeze lime juice into bowl (discard remaining fruit flesh unless you have other plans for it). Mix well.
  4. Add diced onion (use whatever you prefer. Red onion is common, I use pearls) and finely minced garlic. Mix well.
  5. Add seasonings, stirring one final time. Chill at least 1 hour to let flavors meld a bit. Serve with chips/veggies/etc to dip, or on sandwiches/burgers/etc as a condiment. Enjoy!
